Is the network IP based in Japan? Does it route through a third country?

Yes, it's a local Japan IP. This service uses Rakuten Mobile's Japan MNO network — your outbound IP for mobile data is assigned within Japan and does not need to be routed through Hong Kong, Singapore or other third countries. Note: some apps or websites use CDN edge nodes selected by the service provider, which may pick nodes closer to the user — this is unrelated to your SIM's IP.

Can I choose between physical SIM and eSIM?

Yes, all plans support both physical SIM cards and eSIM. You can choose based on your device compatibility when applying.

How do I renew after the annual term?

We'll notify you via LINE one month before your term expires. Renewal requires no setup fee — just continue with your monthly payments.

Can I pay with a Taiwan-issued credit card?

Accepted Answer

Yes! We process payments through NewebPay and accept VISA, MasterCard, JCB, AMEX, and ATM virtual-account transfers. Taiwan-issued credit cards work without issue.

Which iPhone / Android models support eSIM?

Accepted Answer

iPhone XS (2018) and later support eSIM, including iPhone XR/11/12/13/14/15/16 series. On Android, Google Pixel 4+, Samsung Galaxy S20+, and Z Flip / Fold series all support eSIM. See our Device Compatibility page for the full list. ⚠️ Note: (1) Carrier-locked devices are not supported; (2) Most phones sold in mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau do not support eSIM. Can I change my plan mid-term?

Direct plan upgrades or changes are not supported. To switch plans (between Lite and Voice, or changing data tier), you need to first terminate your current plan via our termination process, then sign up for the new plan. See Section 7 of the Terms of Service for termination rules and fees.

Yes! This is one of our core features. The Lite plan receives SMS codes from major Japanese platforms — concert lotteries, Johnny's official, LINE, Rakuten, Mercari, and more — even when you're overseas.

Can I still use this number after leaving Japan (e.g., back in Taiwan)?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Outside Japan (in Taiwan or other regions), the service supports: (1) receiving SMS from Japan (no quota limit, free); (2) data roaming (per plan: 1GB→1GB overseas, 3GB→1GB, 7GB→1.5GB, 30GB→2GB; throttled to 128kbps after); (3) Voice plan: an SMS will notify you when someone calls your number. Overseas you CANNOT: send SMS, make or receive voice calls.

Can I use mobile hotspot / tethering with this SIM?

Yes. You can share your data via mobile hotspot, USB tethering or Bluetooth to other devices such as laptops and tablets. Data used via tethering counts toward your plan's data allowance.

Do ChatGPT, Gemini and other AI apps work normally?

This service uses Rakuten Mobile's local Japan network, so AI apps available in Japan (such as ChatGPT and Gemini) can be downloaded and used normally. Availability and features of each AI service in any region are determined by the respective providers and may change without notice.

When I'm in Taiwan or abroad, will my IP still be Japan? Will Japan services still flag me as overseas?

Accepted Answer

When roaming internationally, this service uses Home Routing — your mobile data is routed back through Japan's network, so your outbound IP remains in Japan. In other words, even when you use this SIM from Taiwan, Hong Kong or other overseas locations, your network IP stays in Japan, significantly reducing the chance Japan services will flag your connection as overseas — your lottery eligibility, account logins, and Japan-based payments are less likely to be blocked by overseas-IP risk controls. Note: actual classification depends on each service's overall risk assessment (browser settings, billing address, behavior patterns, etc.), and complete avoidance cannot be guaranteed. Connection quality depends on local carriers.
